The New Era

P O E T R Y

--

Like every year, that comes and goes away, 

This too will pass, not going to stay! 

Still a day in memory, that was yesterday, 

Causes the illusion; -it's the time's way! 

The time thus takes place in this now, 

That neither comes nor goes away!

But is only thought of as having a way! !

A day was there, that is called yesterday, 

A day also here, that is called today, 

And one, as imagined, in thought only,

Appears to be, called the tomorrow,

That is truly but continuity of sorrow! 

So long as is there, a thought is born,

The seed of the sorrow is there sown.

The two breed and survive on their own, 

Feed upon themselves survive, and grow. 

Under this cover, Reality is but hidden,

As the thought disappears, is seen again.

A thought is never the idea,

The Idea is never the thought,

Idea is but the illumination,

Where-in shines the thought.

The light that is prior to idea,

Is pure, self-resplendent, steady,

Idea is but the ray, scattered, unsteady.

When that Light is discovered,

That ever shines in the heart, 

Reality is revealed, comes out stark.

Day out and day in, day come and go.

The dance of time, a flickering show,   

Between the past and the future,

A today is named and framed, 

Likewise a yesterday, and a tomorrow!

Are but so famed and tamed! 

And Lo and Behold! The parade of time,

We see an year, rather an era meanwhile!  

But in a single day, the year too will die, 

In a single day, another will be born!

We shall evaluate the gone one,

And shall celebrate the new one! 

We shall have new resolutions, 

And forget those, the old ones!

Time will be repeated like this every year, 

And may bring us another smile or a tear!

And we shall have hopes, thrill and fear,

We shall meet, forget, and greet the dear, 

Soon the days of the year would heap on,

And of yet another year would leap on!

Where then shall we be, who but knows, 

Will stay for ever, irrespective of shows!
