Two Questions.

Just for fun.
--
'Who dunnit' and 'Mental hai kyaa?'
(In Hindi, 'Mental hai kya? / "मेन्टल है क्या" means :
'Is he crazy?')
Two interesting titles are there for the movies.
'Tashkent-Files' and 'Mental hai kya?'
So far, I haven't seen any of the above two films,
that have been released or may be going to be released soon.
But my own connotation suggests me that if I had to write the story of the two films,
I would have made the one film only.
It would be of and about 'God'.
I often wonder if 'Who' is a singular or plural here!
That means Is / Isn't there a 'God';
Or, Are / Ain't there Gods?
Apart from this question I would as well like to ask if this one / many 'God' is / are Masculine, Feminine or neuter?
I also think as there are again "Fifty shades of Grey", which shade owns this 'God'?
You might be asking (about) me / about that 'God' as well, :
"Mental hai kya?"
Because that 'God', Who-so-ever or what-so-ever That might be, might have dunnit.
And strange! No one till date could have found out :
"Who dunnit!"
I mean; -This Great drama or play that is life or existence.
Even if one has found out one could not convince the others.
Makes sense?
I leave it to the reader.

War is in the stars,

War is in the stars,
Though takes in its stride,
The men who live upon the earth!
Putting on us a hundred scars,
War is in their / our stars !
The scars that are but the echo,
Of the stupidity of the human farce.
The injuries that bleed the heart,
The worries that hurt the mind,
They are but the repetition,
Historical hysterical kind.
Nevertheless, no one can stop them,
One has to engage in slaying or slain,
Death is ugly, live is vain,
The stupidity inhuman is endless chain.
The scars never heel, the men never feel.
Though the Truth is ever so revealed.
--
And don't think the war is there in India or Pakistan only.
It is like the human stupidity ubiquitous and everywhere.

Does custom prevail over ?

Sabarimala
Far from being an expert, I'm not even a lawyer, but a layman only.
I really don't understand much about law and custom, but just want to know if the recent verdict of the Supreme Court in this case is should not be read in this light?

Cannabis ...

Read this 'comment' on a face-book post where a cute innocent kid is surrounded by Cannabis plants.
--
Too bad just another useless stoner, and depicting a child in a field of drugs is tantamount to child abuse! I hope that poor child is rescued from their irresponsible parent(s).
~
What's a little permanent psychosis amongst fellow stoners, that's not dangerous at all... I've seen so many people ruined by cannabis use I've lost count, it's ridiculous that people think this is alright to use simply because they don't want to give up being stoned into a state of pure apathy. What about paranoia, don't even try to tell me cannabis doesn't invoke it?
~
I used it for years and was shocked to see the difference in my overall behavior without it, from stoned idiot viewing the world through a drug induced template to being able to do anything I set my mind to.
~
Let's talk about 'Gateway Drug' while we are at it shall we? Please don't insult my intelligence by denying it, as an ex heroin user I can tell you exactly what led me to it! Your post makes me angry and disgusted to see this from a page calling itself 'The Science Scoop', grow up and stop promoting damaging behavior. If you want to waste your life and end up a psychotic dribbling twit keep it to yourself!
~
I choose not to imbibe a psychosis inducing drug, and have chosen not to for many decades now. I also choose not be exposed to anyone's second hand smoke, or even worse their third hand off gassing from the resins saturating their; skin, hair, and clothing. No I will not debate whether it induces psychosis, long experience and hard science, (not pseudo science by those who wish a rationalization to go on getting stoned), say it does.
~
I have a long educated and factual diatribe about cannabis that I will not post here, but to summarize it; I do not believe it should be legal, merely decriminalized as should all drugs including alcohol, the evidence for its harmful effects on the personality are overwhelming, those who choose to use a drug that can affect others by second and third hand exposure should be fined for said exposure then offered treatment,
(would a sane person expose a an infant to cannabis?), treatment to kick this insidious habit should not be optional.
~
Yes, I know from my own use of this drug that is habitual and addictive, Show me a user who can, (and will), easily walk away from using it for two years or more? All this comes from a lifetime of experience on my part, as well as that of many friends and family members destroyed by cannabis. Yes it is a gateway drug, Oh the shouted denial that statement will raise, but it is still true as I know from my own days on Heroin as a kid, (I started at 10 and kicked at 17 over 40 years ago), and the majority of those I knew during my evil youth graduated to a stronger high. Sadly most died of those stronger highs, as I nearly did many times.
~
Society cannot in all reason outlaw a plant; however where does that society draw the line at condoning its misuse by its members? A simple question; Belladonna, (from Deadly Nightshade), induces a potent high when imbibed, to the point of being a psychedelic experience, should our society smile upon its daily use? The evidence of where an apathetic and stoned society ends up is repeated throughout history as monuments of crumbling ruins, and I for one do not wish to repeat those social mistakes.
~
I do not judge those who use cannabis, or any other drug, but I do believe they need treatment and counseling to guide them away from being dependent upon them to numb away their own emotional troubles. If I have given offense with this comment I assure you none was intended, however I feel too strongly about this subject to ignore it...

Poetry of the day.

Poetry of the day.
-©-
Below the surface lies the Reality,
Ready to take the sprout,
In a volcano, in a fountain or in a spout.
Its the feelings, the sentiments,
The emotions that is all about.
They nurse, nourish, and nurture from within,
They may destroy, devastate terminate without!
They are the seed, the potential the dreams within,
They are the spring, the festival the feast without.

Marriage, Love, Progeny, Conjugal, Divorce.

Marriage Love, Progeny, Conjugal, Divorce.
--
Marriage comes from मार / māra, / कुमार / kumāra / काम / kāma.
Which is described in वैदिक / vaidika, पौराणिक / paurāṇika texts as स्कन्द / skanda / मंगल / maṃgala and काम / kāma.
These are but synonyms and function at different levels in different ways.
As देवता / devatā both are sons of Lord शिव / śiva but also the planet 'Mars' in the वैदिक / vaidika, and पौराणिक / paurāṇika Astronomy and there-by in Astrology too.
This is interesting How both Lord शिव / śiva and Lord बुद्ध / Buddha had a ferocious fight with this
देवता / devatā and though Lord शिव / śiva burnt him to ashes, yielding to prayers of the spouse of
काम / kāma, granted him a life without a physical body.  Since then काम / kāma is said to reside with a formless body in the mind of men and women.
Lord बुद्ध / Buddha on the other hand is said to have vanquished मार / māra, / कुमार / kumāra / काम / kāma.
But how far the devotees of both the Lord could win over or defeat मार / māra, / कुमार / kumāra / काम / kāma is not clear to me. They must know better.
However, Veda insists that 'धर्म' and काम / kāma are both 2 पुरुषार्थ / great motives and goals noble to be pursued by man, if one wants to attain the Ultimate and the Supreme meaning / purpose of life.
And accordingly one has to perform the duty of having a family and follow the गृहस्थ धर्म and then should retire and try to find the Supreme Truth / deliverance from the cycle of repeated births.
Veda has therefore devise 4  वर्ण / varṇa according to the natural and hereditary tendencies of man and a rough classification has been made under the categories of these 4 types of men.
The 'Marriage' (विवाह) on one hand was / is thus a concept, and an institution on the other. And for society, this was founded as a custom and accordingly 'codes' were charted out.
The physiological need of male / female was secondary and delinquent behavior on the part of a man / woman was treated as an offence.
This concept / institution / custom thereby became prevalent all over the world.
Nevertheless today Marriage is of the same stuff.
We have lost the idea of 'Marriage' as is applicable in these 3 ways.
Traditions have lost this perspective.
Traditions have tried to impose 'Marriage' as a way of accommodating the sex-urge in the social pattern. Accordingly 'Ethics' is defined and one just finds one is unable to follow 'Ethics' in strict compliance.
We need either to say good-bye to all traditional ways of thinking and customs, find out if we really want 'Marriage' in any form, or we should see the facts with open eyes, questioning everything honestly to the core.
We seek security in relationship, We seek fidelity. Security, fidelity, commitments and dishonesty all are assumptions and could never be defined well to suit our comfort.
Marriage as a custom prevails and could be never outdated as long as we seek security in relationship, As long as we seek fidelity, security.
Fidelity, commitments and dishonesty are all mental modes of thought and only when we are obsessed with thought, we try to find out a solution, which is as much elusive as the thought.
There ends the road.

PN Subramanian

PN Subramanian

That delicate flower in utter disregard to and oblivious of the cruel harsh world that we know and live in, was rejoicing in her joyful bliss, vulnerable to the whims of 'Time', Yet it never knew time, and had transcended death and all the ugliness of death too. Had no past, no tomorrow. An expression of beauty timeless and deathless...,

The silent and meditative mind.

(This was originally posted by me as face-book status on 1 June 2012.)
--
Each and every question originates from a presumption. All presumptions lead into more and more presumptions. They beget seemingly new thoughts and then the mind gets involved in them. But if the source and cause of the tendency of in-attention of the mind is seen in the very beginning itself, the mind remains just silent and peaceful. Finding out how and why the presumption was taken to be valid in the very first instance, makes it clear that this happens due to un-awareness and in-attention only. A sleepy mind fails to question the truth and correctness of the presumption, and gets caught in the apparent purport only.

Narmada -1

Narmada -1.
सबिन्दु सिन्धु-सुस्खलत्तरंगभंगरंजितं |
...
sa-bindu sindhu-suskhalat-taranga-bhanga-ranjitaM |
...
It's strange that I had been thinking of Narmada since a week. One reason may be, because of the high temperature here these days that is similar to the places in Nimar-area, where flows the Narmada, where I lived in 1991 summer. And The silence at the bank of Narmada is so enchanting, ... if you don't think of the world, your mind soon gets merged into that deep silence that is within and without you. That is Narmada. If you can bear with that heat, it no more troubles you. You can drink a glass of water every half-an hour. The sweat keeps drenching you, and all the impurities are cleansed out of the body. A very simple diet can serve and keep your health in best way. The spiritual journey that begins at the banks of Narmada literally starts from a 'point', a 'bindu', that expands to the tremendous proportions when you listen to the sound of the river's murmur that rhymes 'shiva-shiva-shiva-shiva' the whole day. Though In the nights, this too vanishes in shiva. If you can forget all other worries of the world and can stay with this, you may hear another sound when the sound 'shiva-shiva-shiva-shiva' has turned into silence. In the night, you may listen to another variation 'rama-rama-rama-rama' which lasts for some 10 hours. 3 hours before sun-rise, this silence gets deepened when you are in deep sleep. Then listening to these 2 sounds for a week or a fortnight, one day you suddenly discover how the sound 'om-om-om-om' is suddenly heard. This 'om-om-om-om' that starts precisely before the sun-rise. You can be attentive and if find out for yourself if this is true. But you can't conjure-up wishfully these sounds. Nevertheless, it was a great thing to see, to experience this all at the bank of The River Narmada. May be, this could happen on the banks of other rivers also, but I could find this when I was at Omkareshwara, at the confluence of Narmada and Kaveri rivers.
